Road Opening Permits

 

Road Opening Permits are required for all work done within County Right of Ways Including:
  • Curbs, Driveways, and Sidewalks
  • Landscaping, Trees, Irrigation, and Lighting
  • New Streets
  • Signs and Street Furniture
  • Utility Installation (Gas, Water, Sewer, Drainage, Telephone, CATV, etc.)

How to Apply


Please send a signed and completed road opening permit form (PDF) to:

Fees



Application Fee - $25.00

Trench Openings

  • First 5 Square Yards - $75.00
  • 6-50  Square Yards - $100.00

Curb Cuts and Gutter Installation

  • 0 - 100 feet - $75.00
  • Each Additional 100 Feet- $25.00

Direct Buried Cable

  • Up to 1,500 feet - $100.00
  • Over 1,500 feet - $150.00

**Service Life Impact Road Under Moratorium - $1,000**

Performance Bond $1,000 plus $55.00 per Square Yard
**This will be returned when the project is complete**

Maintenance Bond - $15.00 per Square Yard
**This will be retained for 2 years**
 
Checks are made payable to Cape May County Treasurer.

All Road Opening Permits require Insurance Certificates naming the County of Cape May, its officers and employees as additional insured.

Highway Occupancy Permit

Highway Occupancy Permits are required for overweight and/or oversized vehicles traveling on County roads and bridges.


Fees

 House Movers and Overweight Vehicles - $50.00

Checks are made payable to Cape May County Treasurer
